hoo boy here we go.

Hi. This is my first time ever doing this sort of thing and it might be the only time I ever do this sort of thing. I hope you like it.

This AMV/PMV (if it can be called that) is based on the Watcher Lore surrounding Grian in his various Minecraft series, primarily the Life Series and Evo SMP.

It all started with one random afternoon where I, after realizing many of the lyrics in this song connected to various moments in Grian’s series, made a full animatic script for the entirety of Nunemaker’s Parable by Everybody’s Worried About Owen which I had been listening to on repeat for several weeks. I like to draw occasionally, mainly to bring life to my own ideas so I started this project as a series of comic pages since I have no animation skills. When I told my older sibling about my project, they pointed out that at the end of the project I would pretty much have all I needed for an animatic. All I would need to do is stick it all together in some video editing software. Thus, I set that as a far-off goal if I ended up finishing all the comic pages. The more pressing goal was to finish all the pages before the end of the summer.

Fast forward five weeks and I have six pages completed. A third of the song done and with the end of the summer looming nearer, I was beginning to feel a bit burnt out with the project, even if I was excited for the next page I would draw. To make things easier and less pressuring on myself, I decided to pause my project. And since I had a section of the song done already, why not make a video out of what I already have?

Hence why this is part 1. There may be a part 2 and/or 3, there may not. Regardless I really like this project and hope to continue it eventually. This animatic was made in the most low budget way possible; the drawings are all traditional pencil sketch scanned with my phone, and the video was put together in iMovie. As stated previously I have no animation skills. That being said these comic pages and this video are something I am really proud of.


A little bit about the idea/headcanons that went into planning this. Nunemaker’s Parable tells the story of a man approaching an otherworldly being to argue or bargain with it for his home which was destroyed. The Watcher’s Parable depicts the story of Grian attempting to bargain and argue with one of the Watcher’s after witnessing the destruction of many of the places he has called home and many of the people he has held close. The description at the beginning of the animatic is generalized to the whole of this project and hints at what might be featured in future installments. In terms of series, this animatic mainly features the Life Series with brief references to Evo SMP and Grian joining Hermitcraft in Season 6. There will be further exploration of Evo SMP and Hermitcraft if I end up making more of the pages for this.
