Things are really “sizzling” for the lovely Flutist Kim Scott…and I’m extremely happy for her! I was introduced to Kim’s music through her last album “Rite of Passage”. I must admit, I wasn’t familiar with the flute as an instrument of jazz but her song “Sweet Obsession” is, by far, one of the smoothest and sensual jazz pieces performed on a flute. With a new label and her new HOT single “Sizzle” hitting the jazz airwaves like gangbusters right now, Kim Scott’s music is ready to take its place at the head of the smooth jazz charts. This new album “Southern Heat” is a very spirited compilation and has all the flavors her listeners want with everything from soulful grooves…to bass slow jams and dance… to the covers of some classic R&B! Not only are we pampered by the music of Southern Heat but we also get to hear Kim as the vocalist on some of the tracks. Such is the case with this 80s soul/funk tune from the popular band Lakeside. It’s definitely a jazz jamm!!
