Description
#10 on my all time fave artist list. Juice Newton. The country singer came to my attention in 1981 with 'Angel of the Morning' and i was immediately hooked. Of course this then 16 year old did not know that it was a classic pop compositon and hence a cover but the song was a huge hit in America and here in Oz, as was her follow up 'Queen of Hearts' (another cover; this time a rockabilly original). For the next 7 years I was devoted to all things Juice! I gathered all her albums; even when they seemingly veered off course! I actually really like 'Can't wait all night' and 'A Little Love' but they are far removed from country. I lost track of Juice Newton til the early 00's when i discovered some newer recordings and I continue to love her 80's collection. Her voice is distinctive, powerful and her range of tracks provide a panoply of moods and energies which are a great way to enjoy an artist. There's a Juice Newton song for every occasion. My favourite? That's tricky. There's so many. I often have a nostalgic connection to the very first song that introduced me to a singer - so Angel of the morning has that for me. It is such a beautiful song and so memorably performed by Juice. Trying to find an extended version of one of her hits to practice my new software editing was somewhat elusive, and so i turned to my handsome friend Chris who created this vibey and generous longer cut of the classic' 'Queen of Hearts'. It was quite a challenge to recut the original video to his energetic mix, but i'm pretty happy with it, and I give him enormous credit (as he will expect, nay demand) of me in posting this clip of a much loved recording artist.
