ATTENTION ALL BOONDOCKS FANS!

As you all know, this year marks the 20th anniversary of when the TV series The Boondocks, based on the comic strips by Aaron McGruder, premiered on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block. For those of you who grew up watching The Boondocks, there’s a huge reason to celebrate—so, as a special treat, I’ve put together something just for you. I present a music video featuring all your favorite characters from the show (yes, that includes Uncle Ruckus!), set to a remix of the iconic opening theme song. This is, indeed, a certified hood classic.

What inspired me to make this video was a video I saw where Gabriel "Asheru" Benn performed this theme song LIVE at Momocon 2019. Someone in the comments, namely @veejohnson5629, said: "I want the full song with this exact beat. The full song is on another beat with another flow." I replied to him "I got you covered, my guy," and sent him a link to this video. Hopefully, YouTube hasn't deleted my comment.

I assembled several clips together to create this tribute, including the opening sequences from all four seasons of the show and some epic action shots of Huey. Since I knew the theme song was titled "Judo Flip" and that Gabriel "Asheru" Benn was the artist behind it, I tracked down his original version on YouTube. I downloaded the audio and ran it through Moises AI Audio Separation software to isolate the vocals. I then laid that vocal track underneath the instrumental version from the Season 1 opening, which I meticulously cut and extended to a solid three minutes—specifically edited for this project.

I even sped up the vocals to match the new tempo, ensuring everything stays perfectly in sync. I also added in some iconic dialogue snippets to give the video an extra punch of nostalgia and dynamic energy.

I created this remix as a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of The Boondocks—a series that not only entertained us but made us think. Whether you’re here to relive those unforgettable moments or discover the magic of the show for the first time, I hope this video connects with you on a personal level.

UPDATE: While watching the credits, I realized I forgot to add something. The part where I listed the places where the original comics were published prior to the TV series, I listed HitList.com, The Diamondback, and Universal Press Syndicate, but I forgot to add The Source, a monthly hip-hop magazine that published the comics in 1997. I guess I should have thought of that before I uploaded it. Oh, well, it's too late for that now. I guess there's nothing much else I can do about it now, except to type it in the description box.
