Meir Banai wrote the musical setting for this peyut (liturgical poen) by Rabbi Abraham Ibn-Ezra (1092-1167). It presents his meditations on being a person created b'tzelem elokim (in the image of God). Ibn Ezra was one of the leading Torah commentators and philosophers of medieval Spain. Meir Banai (1960-2017) was a leading Israeli singer-songwriter. In his later years, he embraced Jewish observance and spirituality, paving the way for many contemporary Israeli artists who use their music as a form of religious expression. This genre of music is beloved by many Israelis across the spectrum of Israeli society.
